Thomas Chaloner, son and heir in 1634 aged 15. (c1619-1659), no longer lived in Duffield but lived in either Hill Somersal or Marston Woodhouse, Derbyshire. England.
Daughter of Augustine Wildbore, D.D, vicar of Garstang and then of Lancaster, had land in 'Up Ratcliffe' and Tarnacre which he gave to his daughter Elizabeth. She married Thomas Chaloner, and the estate was sequestered for the husband's 'delinquency.' After his death she married Samuel Barker of South Luffenham, co. Rutland, who in 1650 petitioned for the removal of the sequestration.
The Rev. Samuel Cotes (or Coates), M.A., of Cambridge University, was Rector, or rather Minister of West Bridgford from 1648 to 1662 when he was ejected. He removed to Wathe near Rotherham and then to his own house at Rawden. For his second wife he took Susan Vincent daughter of Thomas Vincent of Barnburgh Grange, Doncaster who he married in 1659. He went into Derbyshire to preach, fell in a fit of palsy, and died with his notes and spectacles in his hands, 1688, aged 69.
His uncle was Samuel Coates, the vicar of Colwick, who on 12 June 1655 married Mary Flamstead of Nottingham. He was ejected after the restoration and was buried 27 Oct. 1659, at St. Mary's, Nottingham. Their son also called Samuel Coates born 1657 was at St Catherine's Hall, Cambridge 1679 but did not matriculate. Ordained 1684. Minister of the Old Meeting House, Mansfield 1690 - 1704. On 21 Oct 1683 he married Sarah Reynolds of Warmington, Nottinghamshire. Daughter of the Rev William Reynolds and Susanna Mellor.
10. Samuel Coates
Nothing is known of this Samuel Coates. He has ioften been confused with Samuel Coates born 1657 to Samuel Coates the rector of Colwick.
William the younger (1630-1675), son of William the elder and Mary Bate. There is almost no doubt that this William is the person who purchased the Manor of Boyleston from the Ferrers family in 1664. He married Jane Buxton in 1665. He has an alabaster tombstone in St John the Baptist Church at Boylestone.
11. John Chaloner
John (1670-1701) son of William the younger and Jane Buxton married Mary Stone in 1698, and because they had no issue she inherited the Manor and passed it to her second husband, the Rev Thomas Gilbert, who sold the manor to John Gilbert Cooper, Esq. in 1743.
Described as Edward Chaloner of Duffield and Hill Somersall.
Her Will dated 1681 mentions Thomas, Edward, Edmund and Jonathan as the sons Edward Chaloner.
